Personal Information
Darcy Flad had a major breakthrough in 2009 as he won his first career show championship capturing the Colonial Days Fair in Lloydminster. In addition to winning the show championship, he was the aggregate winner at Lloydminster for the 3rd time in his career and it was his 4th trip to the sudden death championship final heat at the Colonial Days Fair, where he also took home the Clean Driver and the Fast Time awards as well. 2009 also saw Darcy post 14 top ten runs including 1 first place run and 7 other runs that cracked the top five. In addition to the win in Lloydminster, Darcy had additional top ten overall finishes at the Red Deer Chuckwagon Championship and the Edmonton’s Chuckwagon Derby. He was the 2004 WPCA Top Rookie Driver Award winner and received the 2006 WPCA?Most Improved Chuckwagon Outfit Award. Darcy is the son of former Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Champion the late Herman Flad, and older brother to fellow competitor Troy Flad. A rancher in the off-season, Darcy is a graduate of Olds College and has two children - Layne and Cheyenne-Jill. He lists hockey, rodeo, team roping and hunting among his other interests and hobbies. Darcy and Richelle make their home in Bodo, Alberta.
