Personal Information

One of the more popular drivers in professional chuckwagon racing, Ross made his first appearance in a championship final heat at a major chuckwagon event when his season best 4th place overall aggregate finish qualified him for the final of the Grande Prairie Stompede. 2017 also saw Ross post 6 top ten runs, with a second place run at the Grande Prairie Stompede being his best of the year. Ross had his best season on the WPCA Pro Tour in 2015 placing 22nd in the World Standings, and in 2013, his first season as a member of the WPCA, was a semi-finalist at the Ponoka Stampede and missed qualifying for the $50,000 Tommy Dorchester championship final by a mere 5 one-hundredths of a second. Prior to running on the WPCA Pro Tour, Ross competed for many years on the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA) circuit where he has won three career CPCA show championships at the Regina Buffalo Days Derby, the St. Walburg Chuckwagon Championship and the Saskatoon Exhibition Derby. He outrode for three Calgary Stampede Aggregate winners, is a three–time CPCA Champion Outrider, and received the CPCA's Most Sportsmanlike Driver Award in 1994. He was a finalist for the winner-take-all championship final heat for the 2005 CPCA Championship, and was one of just two drivers to race penalty free for all ten days at the GMC Rangeland Derby in 2004. Ross is the father of current World Champion Outrider Casey Knight, younger brother to fellow driver Jim Knight and cousin to driver Wayne Knight. Ross and his wife Gail have two children - Carlee and Casey, and make their home in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan.
