It was a cool Sunday afternoon in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, as the 2017 edition of the Ashley Richards Memorial presented by Dakota Dunes Casino wrapped up during a Sunday matinee performance at Prairieland Park. When the times were tabulated, it was Gary Gorst, driving the HJR Asphalt outfit, and along with outriders Casey Knight and Quaid Tournier who won the championship after posting the best 4-day aggregate time of 5:14.09. It was a truly remarkable performance for Gorst who won first place on three out of four days that made up the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan show.

Gorst’s four-day aggregate time was a huge 3.07 seconds faster than “The Hound” Codey McCurrach who finished in the runner-up position. Troy Flad quietly had an outstanding show placing third overall, while Jason Glass and Obrey Motowylo made out the top five overall after four runs.

For the third consecutive day, Gary Gorst had the best time of the afternoon as well as the fast time of the race meet after posting a run of 1:17.56. That put him 1.01 seconds faster than 2017 Obrey Motowylo who grabbed second place on the day, with Chanse Vigen, Rick Fraser and Luke Tournier making out the top five wagons on the day.

The WPCA Pro Tour now moves into Medicine Hat for the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede starting on Thursday, June 15, 2017 and running through to Sunday, June 89, 2017.
