In spite of Friday night’s races being cancelled, and some light afternoon showers on Sunday, it was a successful Guy Weadick Days that ultimately wrapped up on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in High River, Alberta. When the times were tabulated, it was Doug Irvine, driving the Quantum Downhole Systems outfit, and along with outriders Rory Gervais and Quinn Langevin, who took the championship for the first time after posting the best 3-day aggregate time of 3:54.64. It’s the first time Irvine has won the High River crown, and the first show championship win for outrider Quinn Langevin.

Irvine, who has been in first place overall since opening night, completed a wire to wire victory with his second day money run in three runs. Irvine won the championship by a large 2.12 second margin over former 2016 Guy Weadick Days champion Mark Sutherland. Layne MacGillivray placed third, Cody Ridsdale and Luke Tournier rounded out the top five overall in the aggregate standings.

As far as day times went, Doug Irvine’s Quantum Downhole Systems outfit, had the best time on the week with a run of 1:16.82 from barrel number 2 in the 5th heat. Second place went to Mark Sutherland followed by Jason Glass, Layne MacGillivray and Troy Flad rounding out the top five wagons on the day.
