WPCA Mourns The Passing Of Longtime Active Supporter And Former WPCA Staff Member Sharon Poberznick
September 28, 1952 – November 18, 2017
The World Professional Chuckwagon Association was saddened by passing of former active supporter and WPCA staff member Sharon Poberznick on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the age of 65 years after a dignified battle with cancer.
Sharon was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, where she sold real estate for over twenty years. She was also self-employed and owned her own flower shops, and several other businesses, until her retirement in the spring of 2017.
Around the turn of the century, Sharon and her husband Todd got very involved with chuckwagon racing and the World Professional Chuckwagon Association. The Poberznick's volunteered for many WPCA functions including the chuckwgon races in Red Deer, the WPCA Awards Banquet amonmg many others. in the late 2000's Sharon came on board and did contract work for the World Professional Chuckwagon Association helping to keep the office running smoothly, and after she left the WPCA Sharon and her family remained some of the WPCA's most dedicated fans and could often been seem at most of the race meets and back in the barns as well.
Besides her loving husband, Todd, Sharon is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Micheal and Tiffany, son Shane, daughter and son-in-law Sarah and Simon; five grandchildren, Ashton, Bryn, Mia, Hudson and Tyson. Sharon was predeceased by her parents Harold and Aileen.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
