Dustin Gorst Cashes Second Consecutive First Place Cheque On Night 2 Of The Battle Of The Rockies

Another tremendous night of chuckwagon racing at the final stop of the 2017 WPCA Pro Tour at the Battle of the Rockies in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Kurt Bensmiller, in search of his second World Chuckwagon Championship, keeps increasing his lead with every run and sits atop the World Standings with a 183.5 point lead with 2 runs to go. The World Champion Chuckwagon Driver will be declared Sunday afternoon.

For the second consecutive night, top money went to Dustin Gorst who piloted his Blackjack Livestock Co. outfit to a 1:16.01 from barrel 4 in heat 2. That run was just 2 one-hundredths of a second faster than Mark Sutherland who placed second on the night. Rick Fraser was third, Gary Gorst placed fourth, and Jordie Fike filled out the top five on the evening.

Two-consecutive first place runs puts  Dustin Gorst soundly atop the overall aggregate standings with a two-run total time of 2:31.84. That puts him almost one full second in front of Mark Sutherland who has now moved up into second place overall. Rick Fraser’s #1 and #2 wagons sit 3rd and 4th respectively, with Logan Gorst in fifth place overall. The driver posting the best 4 day aggregate time will take home the 2017 Battle of the Rockies Championship.

Day 3 of the final stop of the 2017 WPCA Pro Tour at the Battle of the Rockies from Rocky Mountain House can be heard live on Saturday night, August 19, 2017 on Rural Radio on SiriusXM Channel 147, or on Country 99 at 99.7 FM out of Bonnyville, and 96.5 CKFM out of Olds, Alberta, starting at 9:00pm Eastern, 8:00pm Central and 7:00pm Mountain Time.
