Chanse Vigen Drives Father Mike Vigen's Wagon To First Place On Opening Night Of The Battle Of The North


Chanse Vigen - Pinch Drives To A Day Money Run On Night 1 In Dawson Creek

It was a hot evening under variably cloudy skies on opening night at the Battle of the North as the WPCA Pro Tour by embarked on Mile “0” of the Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Luke Tournier came into this year’s event as the two-time defending champion, and when the nightly races were complete, Mike Vigen’s Briar Ridge Stock Farm outfit, driven by Chanse Vigen, emerged with the fast time of the night with a 1:14.89.

From barrel number 4 in the 4th heat, Vigen bested reigning Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship Champion John Walters by just 2 tenths of a second. Vern Nolin placed third, Rick Fraser was fourth and Chad Fike rounded out the top five on the night.

The top 4 drivers in the aggregate after Saturday’s run will go into the winner-take-all championship final heat where the winner will take home a big bonus cheque, and the 2017 Battle of the North Championship.
