WPCA Mourns The Passing Of Longtime Active Supporter Jim Bottomley

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association was saddened by the passing of longtime active supporter Jim Bottomley on Friday, July 28, 2017 after a battle with cancer at the age of 79.

One of the great supporters of chuckwagon racing, Jim was a founding member of the World Professional Chuckwagon Association in 1981 and served in various capacities right up until his passing. He was a canvas sponsor for the likes of Roy Schickerowski, Reg Johnstone, Kirk Sutherland, George Normand and Buddy Bensmiller with his Majestic Trailer Sales/Majestic RV businesses. He sponsored awards, race meets, and anything chuckwagon racing relted. Jim Bottomley was also a champion for the sport of chuckwagon racing, negotiating sponsorship deals, race meets, and numerous other promotional fields.

Jim's Majestic RV World won the World Chuckwagon Championship seven times - five times with George Normand and twice with Buddy Bensmiller, and his companies received the WPCA Active Supporter Awards in 1992 and 1995 and received Special Recognition from the WPCA in 2005. Jim was personally honored with the WPCA's two highest honors - the WPCA Chuckwagon Person of the Year in 1983 and the George Normand Lifetime Builders Award in 2006. Starting in 2014, the recipient of the WPCA Chuckwagon Person of the Year receives the Jim Bottomley Trophy.

Jim will be lovingly remember by his wife Denise; mom, Inez; Son, Neil; daughters, Lori (David) and Deanna (JT) and their mom, Marj; grandchildren, Samantha, Nichole, Jillian, Lisa, Nicholas, Devon and Lauren; great grandchildren Quinn and Benson and many relatives in Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. He was predeceased by his father, Alec, his daughter, Jamie and grandson, Kyle.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Reception to follow at funeral home. Condolences may be forwarded through
