Personal Information
Chad Harden is a chuckwagon driver who is solidifying his spot in the sport’s history. 2009 saw Chad win the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby and Edmonton’s Chuckwagon Derby - becoming just the 3rd driver to win both major championships in a single year. He placed a career best 7th in the World Standings and had a horse named to the WPCA's Equine Outfit of Excellence. 2009 saw Chad post 22 top ten runs including 4 first place runs and 7 runs that cracked the top five. He had top 10 overall aggregate finishes at 6 show championships and qualified for 4 sudden death finals at the Grande Prairie Stompede, Calgary Stampede, the Battle of the North and Edmonton’s Chuckwagon Derby. Chad has qualified for the Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Championship every year since he started competing, and was the first chuckwagon driver to win association and Calgary Stampede top rookie honors in a single year. He won the Calgary Stampede's Orville Strandquist Award for top rookie driver in 2001, the Ponoka Stampede Championship in 2002 and received the prestigious WPCA Chuckwagon Person of the Year Award in 2006. Chad was the WPCA's Top Rookie Driver in 2000, introduced “Skippy the Squirrel” - chuckwagon racing’s first mascot, and has participated annually in EnCana’s WPCA/4-H Mentorship Program since its inception in 2005. Chad is a third generation chuckwagon driver, whose grandfather Leroy Harden and father Robert Harden drove wagons for many years. Chad owns and operates Generation Chemicals Inc., an oilfield chemical company and in the off-season is a big sports fan. Chad, his wife Dori have 4 children - Montana, Cheyenna, Dawson and Denver - and make their home near Mulhurst Bay, Alberta.
